Cannabidiol—which you probably know better as CBD—is having a big moment. The non-intoxicating component of cannabis is gaining popularity for treating a variety of symptoms and conditions thanks to its ease of use, lack of side effects, and easy availability. And as cannabis gains more widespread acceptance, scientific studies are starting to back up the positive impact of CBD oil for conditions like anxiety and chronic pain.
While cannabis users have touted the benefits of the plant and its components for years, we’re learning more and more about how CBD can provide relief for anxiety and inflammation without the sometimes-stressful side effects of THC. There’s still plenty to discover about CBD oil benefits, but the results that are coming in appear promising.

The Current Science on CBD
Research suggests that CBD can play a role in combatting anxiety. A 2010 study from the University of São Paulo, for instance, found that CBD is associated with “significantly decreased” social anxiety disorder (SAD). A 2011 study from the same university noted that CBD not only seems to be effective in treating SAD, but may also be faster-acting than many current treatments.
A 2015 paper from researchers at New York University examined 49 studies on CBD and saw wide applications for a myriad of anxiety disorders, including PTSD, generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. CBD, according to the paper, could even help reduce anxiety symptoms associated with THC use—a finding in line with what we understand about the interaction between these two common cannabinoid compounds.
All of these findings acknowledge that we need more study into the potential benefits of CBD oil. But in short: From what we know so far, CBD holds a lot of potential promise for people suffering from anxiety, even if they’ve had bad experiences with THC before.
CBD also appears to have potential as a treatment for inflammation resulting from a broad spectrum of conditions. One study in the journal PLoS suggests CBD could help treat gut issues like ulcerative colitis. And multiple studies, documented in a paper published in the journal Free Radical Biology and Medicine, have shown that CBD can activate the immune system, potentially making it helpful in battling a wide array of diseases.

CBD Pen Pals
While CBD’s potential applications are broad, every human being is different and addresses symptoms differently. That’s one reason why retailers are making CBD available to customers in many forms, from tinctures to capsules to candy. Increasingly, though, one of the most popular vehicles is a vape pen.
Cannabis users have long embraced vaporizing as a smokeless delivery method, but like our understanding of CBD, this technology has recently advanced by leaps and bounds. Today, CBD vape pens are discreet, portable, easy-to-use, and more reliable than ever.
Aromatherapy Vape Pens: Where Tech Meets Tradition
Aromatherapy, or the use of plant-based compounds like essential oils to promote well-being through scent, has been used since ancient times. Its history traces back to ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia, when infused oils were used for medicine, religious rituals, and beauty alike.
Today, aromatherapy can be found in bath products and candles, as well as high-tech options like steam diffusers. It’s become a popular way of addressing ailments like insomnia and stress, and for setting a generally soothing mood. Vaporizing has also found its way to aromatherapy, with vape pens functioning as essentially portable, small-scale diffusers.

Perfect Pairings for Every Mood
Select CBD combines the therapeutic effects of aromatherapy with the broad, proven benefits of CBD into vape pens that specifically target the effect you’re going for.
If you’re taking CBD oil for anxiety, for example, the Relax CBD vape pen with lavender is designed to help you chill out after a stressful day. When you’re getting down to business, Focus CBD vape pens are designed to keep the mind alert while still taming anxiety and pain with an invigorating rush of peppermint or spearmint. If you’re just trying to feel like a human being when things are rough, Revive pens in lemon or grapefruit give you a refreshing space to reset.
Kylee Moon, a marketing specialist at Select, is one of many employees whose habits have been transformed by working in the CBD industry. For one thing, she’s spending a lot less on her morning joe.
“One of the really refreshing things about working here is that everyone is working to help redefine and reinvent people’s daily routines, which is a really exciting mission,” says Moon. “The Peppermint CBD vape pen has replaced my usual cup of coffee most mornings. Not only does it taste better, but it helps me rethink how I’m approaching my day from the very start. With just a few puffs, I feel refreshed and centered on the tasks I need to get done.”
Whether you’re using CBD oil for anxiety, pain, or any of its other benefits, combining it with a little aromatherapy can help set a soothing mood—and gives you space to heal, focus, and refresh.
