Weedmaps Sports athletes will hit the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii, once more to compete in the Da Hui Backdoor Shootout. The BMX, Surf, Skate and Moto athletes will enjoy the North Shore in January 2019 at the Weedmaps Wellness house. When they’re not in the water, they’ll be resting, recovering, and having a rejuvenating experience with fellow athletes and industry VIPs at the Wellness House.

The Wellness House will welcome a powerhouse roster of surfers and riders to a new location in January 2019 with a new personal chef and added health and wellness activities to better absorb the island vibes. Longtime sponsor Flav will be joined by brands Ignite, Hawaiian Cannabis Care, Rowll, and Wasted Grains to assist the athletes with cannabis-based information and recovery options.

The Weedmaps Wellness House athletes include Bruce Irons, Nathan Fletcher, Tyler Newton, Colby Raha, Tom Parsons, Jimmy Hill, Boo Johnson, Chase Webb, Aaron Homoki, Stevie Williams, Tommy Sandoval, Koa Rothman, Nathan Fletcher, Devon Smillie, Stevie Churchill, Brandon Begin, and Dylan Strak. While some athletes compete, others will visit locations around the island to do what they do best.

The team will be supporting Bruce Irons and Nathan Fletcher in the Da Hui Backdoor Shootout this year.

The visit will begin with an opening ceremony at the house with a traditional pig roasting and a local blessing to wish good vibes on all throughout the trip. Later, athletes and VIPs will be treated to an exclusive party to mingle and get to know one another.

For visitors to the Wellness House, the days begin with morning yoga or a Ginastica session and organic juices, fruit, and other healthy breakfast options by a personal chef from Ke Nui Kitchen, which creates farm-to-table cuisine with local ingredients. Ke Nui Kitchen will also be designing the menu to ensure athletes and VIPs have access to healthy lunches, dinners, and snacks.

When they’re not competing, athletes, and VIPs will be able to explore the beauty of the island with guided hikes, cycling outings, local tours, and other activities that will immerse them in Hawaiian culture.

While there’s a lot of newness this year, some things never change — like Weedmaps Sports’ dedication to spreading the word that cannabis can be used as a sports medicine. CBD, in particular, is utilized by athletes daily to recover from pain ranging from the average daily grind to serious athletic injuries.

Eric Sorensen, Weedmaps Sports director, said this year’s Wellness House promised to be a great opportunity for those in attendance to get acquainted with the culture of cannabis and the Ohana spirit of Hawaii.
