Ontario’s first crop of brick and mortar cannabis stores have been approved to open as of April 1. Ten retailers are the first to receive authorization from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO).

And, more stores are expected to open throughout the month.

Despite the slow rollout, the provincial government has previously said that it will not cap the number of retail stores.

Until now, the only legal source for cannabis in the province has been online ordering through the government-run Ontario Cannabis Store.
