Cannabis retail chain Canna Cabana, a subsidiary of publicly traded company High Tide, hooked up with Ontario lottery winner Dana Michele Kendal to launch Canna Cabana Toronto at Yonge and College.

The brand has already established stores in Alberta and Saskatchewan, and the Toronto location is the third Ontario outlet for the chain which also operates stores in Hamilton and Sudbury.

Placed conveniently along the Yonge subway line and replacing a former California Sandwiches location, the store is approximately 1,600 square feet and is hard to miss from the street.

Quick Hit

Following Canna Cabana’s signature aesthetic, this cosmopolitan cannabis store has maximized space and puts dried flower front and centre.

Vibe

The store boasts a sleek, streamlined look with a few tropical motifs employed strategically throughout the store.

Stylish bongs and other accessories line the walls but cannabis is the main attraction. A trio of glass-topped tables show off a range of dried flower options organized by indica, sativa, and hybrid.

Almost every strain in store is showcased in a “sensory jar,” where buds are strategically held in place under a magnifying lens so consumers can take a closer look.

Customer Service

During a recent visit, we came across one strain that tested above 27% THC, one of the highest we’ve seen in Canada’s legal rec market—though, by the time you’re reading this, we expect that batch to be sold out.

The selection of oils, capsules, and sprays is considerably smaller.

Prices shown in store include tax and are typically rounded to the nearest dollar. Expect to pay a healthy premium as single grams and prerolls ring in slightly higher—approximately a dollar or more—than the OCS.

When it comes to accessories and ancillary items, the selection is expansive. Canna Cabana’s predecessor (a chain called Smoker’s Corner with locations across Alberta) got its start manufacturing and retailing cannabis accessories and so the budding cannabis retailer benefits from a catalogue of glass bongs and colourful pipes from brands like Vodka, Kronos, and Dopezilla.

What You Should Know

Being located on Yonge Street means that parking is not available immediately outside, though the central location is in close proximity to the TTC. The store is also wheelchair accessible. Bring your empty containers to recycle them in store.
