Following many other states that are somewhere on the road to easing restrictions on psilocybin and MDMA, legislation in Connecticut just passed a committee vote for creating therapy programs assisted by MDMA and psilocybin.

While not legalizing the drugs, the bill titled HB 5396 would create treatment centers with these forms of treatment for military veterans, health care workers, retired first responders, and those whom typical medication have proven ineffective.

The bill then moves to the full Senate floor, where it has a good chance of passing. Ketamine therapy is also being considered to be added to the bill.

Over a dozen states have active legislation for either creating therapeutical programs or for legalizing psychedelics. It seems the two major moments we will see this decade for the psychedelic movement are the elections of 2022 and 2024, in particular the presidential election of 2024 where turnout will inevitably be much bigger and skew younger.

This decade is assured to go down as the pivot point for America’s change in perception towards psychedelics and their benefits.
