Talks are still tentative and no deal has yet been struck, but more details have come out on the bill that is currently being considered as a “compromise” bill between Republicans and Democrats in the Senate.

Dave Joyce, Republican from Ohio, has spoken of a meeting he has had with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer in which they spoke of a bill that could be passed as we wait for the larger Cannabis Legalization bill to officially be released. At the time, there were two main issues attached to discussions: expungement of records and allowing banks to work with marijuana companies. However, Marijuana Moment is now reporting that even more has been talked about being attached to this Omnibus bill.

These additional issues are “veterans’ medical cannabis access, research expansion, marijuana industry access to Small Business Administration (SBA) programs and broader drug sentencing reform,” reports Marijuana Moment.

Again, nothing here has been finalized, but the new topics of discussion prove that these talks have been serious and expansive. I’ll give some credit to Schumer here for allowing some bipartisan issues to be resolved before the big show of his legalization bill gets formalized.
