In what will be framed as a test of how enthusiastic right-wing voters are of marijuana, Arkansas will probably see the issue of legal marijuana on their ballots this fall.

The amount of signatures required to make it to the ballot is 89,151, and a group titled Responsible Growth Arkansas has reported around 200,000 signatures so far gleaned.

Arkansas already has a robust medical marijuana industry, gathering about $741,000 a day in sales.

A taxed marijuana industry in the state and an extra 40 dispensaries spread across the area would be a huge boost in state income.

The group’s proposal would not allow home growing, and would strip the tax from medical marijuana patients and would instead place it on the recreational market.
