The retail cannabis store at 333 Yonge Street is operated by sole proprietor Colin Campbell, but you wouldn’t guess it from the Tokyo Smoke branding that decks out the entire store.
For the uninitiated, Tokyo Smoke is part of the Canopy Growth family of brands but it first established itself in the city by operating a chain of coffee shops. The Yonge Street location is the first licensed to sell cannabis in Ontario though outlets in Manitoba have been doing so for months.
For now, the store is relatively small, just 1,500 of the 5,000 square feet of it is up-and-running, but it provides a complete cannabis shopping experience to those that wait in the short line outside.

Products are conveniently laid out across categories–all pre-rolls, capsules, and oils are situated on the same horizontal rows as each other, making it a breeze to identity what’s available for sale.

Featured buds are displayed in pearl-white smell jars—complete with a plug on a string that you can remove to take a whiff—but only represent a fraction of the expansive selection of strains in stock. The rest are identified via postcards which list strain specifics including potency, terpene notes, and pairing suggestions.
When you’re ready to place an order, approach one of the workers with a tablet, who will enter your purchase and send details electronically to one of the five check-out tills at the front of the store, where your selections await for final purchase.

Pricing here is pretty reasonable. On par or slightly higher compared to the OCS, which is not so bad considering you don’t have to pay a shipping fee.
The accessories collection, found throughout the store, is highly curated and includes stylish artisanal-style bongs, cannabis oil infusers, vaporizers, pipes, and ephemeral essentials like papers, cones, crowns, and more.
