Carl’s Jr. will make fast-food history on April 20, 2019, by selling a cannabidiol (CBD)-infused burger at one location in Denver. That’s 4050 Colorado Blvd. for all of our Denver peeps out there. For $4.20, according to a press release from the restaurant’s parent company.

The aptly-named Rocky Mountain High: CheeseBurger Delight will include two “100% charbroiled beef patties paired with Carl’s Jr. signature Santa Fe Sauce infused with hemp-based CBD oil,” as well as the restaurant’s signature criss-cut fries to save you the trouble of cramming them into the burger yourself. The hemp-derived CBD oil comes from Colorado company Bluebird Botanicals.
The infused burger is part of a larger CBD-in-everything trend that doesn’t seem to be slowing down soon. It’s also part of the Carl’s Jr. mission to stay on top of exciting food trends and introduce new flavors to the fast food world, according to Patty Trevino, senior vice president of brand marketing at Carl’s Jr.
“Our customers have come to expect innovative and unique menu offerings,” Trevino said in the press release, “and we’re thrilled to be the first quick service restaurant to be testing CBD-infused options.”
For now, the Rocky Mountain High will be a one-day menu item, so don’t expect Carl’s Jr locations to start showing up on Weedmaps anytime soon. But for those interested in adding a juicy burger to their personal regimen of CBD-infused products, there’s hope for a larger, more permanent rollout in the future.
