The next wave of marijuana-related bills sweeping state governments across the country has been the enactment of weed consumption sites, and Nevada is next to jump on board.

A bill that would create licenses for “retail cannabis consumption lounges” and “independent cannabis consumption lounges” has passed through the state’s legislature and is expected to be signed by Governor Steve Sisolak.

The governor has long been a big proponent of marijuana legalization, recently having pardoned over 15,000 people convicted from small cannabis offenses.

Las Vegas has had consumption sites since 2019, so this will mostly effect the rest of the state. Nevada is joining the ranks of Alaska, Colorado, New York (eventually), Massachusetts, and California with the enactment of statewide consumption availability.
