The state of Michigan has broken another record for marijuana sales this last December. According to state officials, Michigan raked in over $135 million in recreational cannabis sales and about $33 million in medical sales in December alone.

According to Andrew Brisbo, the executive director of the Michigan Marijuana Regulatory Agency, these December sales, “marked another high for the adult-use industry.”

The total cannabis sales in Michigan in 2021 tallied just over $1.3 billion for recreational sales and $480 million for medical use. Roughly $131 million in taxes generated by these sales are going to public education and infrastructure while another $115 million will be going to the state general fund.

2022 is expected to be an even bigger year in terms of marijuana sales in Michigan. Thus, proving that legalizing marijuana is beneficial to the population and the state.
