Pot of butter caused kitchen fire at Manchester nursing home
Investigators say a fire that broke out in a nursing home kitchen in Manchester on Friday night was caused by a pot of butter.The fire was reported just after 10 p.m. at Mount Carmel Rehabilitation and Nursing Center at 235 Myrtle St., District Fire Chief Michael Gamache said.Due to the number of people at the facility, firefighters requested a two-alarm response.Residents of the facility ultimately did not have to be relocated, Gamache said, after crews determined that conditions were safe following the blaze. One resident was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after suffering a fall related to the fire, Gamache said.Investigators say the burner was left on and the fire was an accident.
