The largest cannabis seizure in Spain’s history just happened. A week or so ago Spain authorities found over 1.1 million plants in a warehouse. These plants add up to roughly 32 tonnes of cannabis with a street value of over 57 million euros. The police said they arrested 9 men and 11 women aged between 20 and 59 across Spain.

This large cannabis seizure was part of a plan to bust a drug network responsible for exporting drugs and other substances across Europe. According to BBC, the weight of all the plants seized are equivalent to roughly five adult African elephants.

Attached below is a video of the warehouse where the drugs were stored.

Spanish police say the drug smuggling operation was ran by multiple different “companies” which worked together to carry out the different parts of the process. This includes the purchase of the seeds, the growing of the cannabis, packaging, and distribution.
