With a handful of adult-use cannabis stores now open across the state, Massachusetts residents have a whole new gift-giving avenue open to them this holiday season.
No need to fall back on plastic trinkets, packs of socks, or scented candles. You can now stuff the stockings of your friends and family—21+ only, of course!—with all sorts of cannabis goodies. And they don’t have to break the bank: From fabulous flower to elegant accessories, these stocking-stuffers are all under $50!
Batteries
Price: $10 for APEX batteries at NETA
With vape pens gaining popularity among cannabis newcomers and connoisseurs alike,, batteries are gifts that show you care. Like socks, batteries for vape pens tend to have a habit of disappearing at the most inconvenient times. APEX batteries are small, easy to charge, and fit a variety of vape cartridges. And at $10 each, you can afford to get your favorite forgetful friend a few of them.
Handcrafted Maplewood Grinder
(RelaxCrafts/Etsy)
Price: $38 on Etsy
Relax Craft, the cannabis accessory project from a furniture company based in Fitchburg, MA, hand carves herb grinders locally out of beautiful maple wood. With a design burned into the lid and an interior consisting of delicately carved ridges rather than traditional teeth, this grinder is a work of art. It’s small size, affordable price, and ability to do double duty as a cannabis accessory and coffee table art make it a perfect stocking stuffer.
THC-Infused Lip Balm
Price: $10 at Cultivate
This is one of my favorite finds on this list. At only $10, Cultivate’s lip balm is an ideal, unusual cannabis stocking stuffer. Cultivate’s THC-infused lip balm is made from a mix of soothing oils, rivaling any mainstream products. It will keep your pout pillowy soft and maybe even downright lickable given the extra special ingredients. The balm is infused with 40 mg of THC, allowing for a steady stream of light edible goodness throughout the day. Just remind folks not to chow down on their chapstick!
Cannabis Flower
Price: ~$10-$15 per gram at adult-use retailers
Now that cannabis is legal, why not assemble a selection for your friends? There’s nothing like comparing strains side by side to get a sense of what sets each apart.. At NETA in Northampton, we recommend picking up some Golden Lemon #4. This indica-leaning hybrid is the perfect strain to get you through the holidays without the stress. The pleasant citrus notes combine with a woodsy flair for a delightful flavor that will have you feeling joyful and relaxed, as if peace on earth is actually possible.
If you’re looking for a strain that’s a bit lighter in potency for a friend with low tolerance, head over to Cultivate in Leicester for some Fire Monster Cookies (a blend of Fire Scout Cookies x Snow Monster). With 13.1% THC, this strain offers a nice creativity boost without slowing you down, perfect for marathon gift wrapping sessions—or waiting in line to return unwanted gifts!
Putting together a smorgasbord? Pick a few grams from among the most popular strains in Massachusetts.
Cannabis-Infused Honey
Price: 96 mg for $25 at Cultivate
Give someone a gift that is sweet in all the right ways. THC-infused honey comes in a small package, it’s affordable, and it’s a multi-use product that anyone who enjoys edibles will love. Folks can put a few drops in their tea, add it when baking, use it as an ice cream topping, or experiment with other applications. It’s a great stocking stuffer for someone who is new to cannabis, too—just remember to include dosing instructions!
Pre-rolls
(Leafly)
Price: ~$8-$15 apiece
Not everyone can roll the perfect joint. Pre-rolls thus make a perfect gift, as they’re small, portable, and premade, allowing you to accept all of the gratitude for the gift without doing any of the work! The only caveat here is that, as with most adult-use products available in the state, there are limited pre-rolls available per purchase at all the dispensaries.
If you really want to wow your friends and family, pick up a pre-roll of White Widow ($15) at the newest dispensary to open, ATG in Salem. Note that, at least for now, the shop allows adult-use customers only if they’ve made a prior appointment (which are few and far between during the busy holiday season). NETA, on the other hand, has a few different pre-rolls available, including miniature ones for $8 each. One of my favorite things to do is to purchase a few mini pre-rolls and create a small bouquet out of them—a slick spin on traditional holiday arrangements.
Glass Smoking Accessories
Price: Starts at around $20
A new glass piece is a thoughtful gift, especially if you skip mass-produced Chinese glass and opt for something local and handmade. This amber and purple cob pipe ($45), made by Oli Elia of Scituate, MA–based Our Glass Creations, is a stunning example. Elia makes a wide variety of gorgeous, handcrafted glass pieces, and while his larger pieces can cost upward of $100e, there are a number of cheaper, yet still awesome pieces that make great gifts for your favorite smoker. On a budget? Consider this beautiful, color-changing one-hitter ($20).
