New York is trying to treat marijuana-use just as it does tobacco-use, and that same policy goes for the State Fair this year.
“State law allows marijuana use anywhere tobacco use is permitted,” Dave Bullard, a spokesperson for the fair, told Marijuana Moment. “Smoking is not permitted in Fairgrounds buildings or in the open concert venues at Chevy Court and Chevy Park but is allowed elsewhere outdoors.”
From August 20 to September 6, the fair will be held in Syracuse. As of now, nothing has been delayed due to the Delta Variant raging across the country.
Bullard adds, “We encourage those who smoke to be considerate of others around them.”
Marijuana is legal to consume in the state, but retail shops are not planned to open until sometime next year, depending on when a Cannabis Board is named by the incoming Governor Hochul.
