Amazon has come out and publicly endorsed the GOP’s new bill that would legalize marijuana federally. This new bill would legalize marijuana nation-wide but leave the specifics up to the states. Although this is partially the system that is already in place, federal legalization would open options for states to optimize their programs.

This new bill would also add a new 3% federal tax on marijuana which would go towards law enforcement and veteran health programs. Included in this bill, marijuana would  also remain illegal for anyone under the age of 21 unless you are a medical marijuana patient which is legal at 18.

In this tweet issued Tuesday, Amazon endorsed the congresswoman’s bill. This all comes shortly after Amazon stopped testing job applicants for marijuana last June. Nancy Mace (R-SC) has issues multiple statements on the bill, “Even in my very red state of South Carolina, statewide, medical cannabis is at an approval rating of 70%,” she said. “If we’re going to do cannabis reform at the federal level, Republicans need to have a seat at the table.”

The bill has four co-sponsors and is expected to be heard within the next few weeks.
