A huge analysis of reddit posts happened recently to see what people are actually using to medicate themselves in the world of marijuana. After gleaning data from more than 18,000 posts, Sunehera Hasib found that CBG and CBN is mentioned way more than you’d expect, and most people on reddit report positive interactions. In fact, the rate of positive experiences with CBG and CBN were both higher than the powerhouses of CBD and THC. Only by a few percentage points, but it shows how effective these alternative cannabinoids can be.
Also interesting is that people on reddit were detailing a mixed, personalized schedule of the cannabinoids. For instance, Hasib writes out an example: “stacking CBG in the morning with CBD in the evening and CBN before bed, choosing CBG because they felt it didn’t carry the sedation some associate with high-dose CBD, using CBG topically alongside THC during flares.”
The largest condition described was anxiety, and the results for this were all over the place compared to pain.
Positive experiences using THC to treat anxiety went all the way down to 58.1% and 88.1% for CBD.
Hasib analyzed the backlogs of r/MedicalMarijuana, r/marijuana, r/MedicalCannabis_NI r/CBD, r/MMJ, r/hempflowers, and r/trees for these results.
While this of course isn’t a controlled study in any way, showing the conversations people have with one another beyond pressured surveys along with a huge sample size of 18,000 is a great look into what’s actually working for people. And the more people embrace finding their own personalized path to medication the better.
