As California’s marijuana market continues to deflate, CraftForce Services and NorCal Cannabis Co. are both laying off workers that adds up to over 100 people leaving the weed industry.
Production technicians are getting the brunt of the axe.
“It’s not a decision we made lightly. The industry has moved to a place where people are more specialized and they’re able to do more with less space, and we couldn’t compete with that. It was sized to a scale of industry that didn’t materialize,” said Bret Peace, the CEO of the parent company Groundwork Holding.
California has had three straight years of sales declines, coming from a peak of $4.4 billion in 2023.
