Joe Rogan texted President Trump about the benefits of ibogaine and four days later, Trump acted on it. He didn’t necessarily legalize the treatment, but he did pave the way for the FDA to act on it. This is all great news, and a smart move for the president in order to win back a lot of the Rogan fanbase whose support is falling rapidly.

Many lawmakers weighed in, mostly to say they supported the move.

Totally support President Trump’s executive order that will allow alternative therapies to be approved by the FDA to treat mental health issues experienced by our veterans and others.

This is a very good decision by President Trump.

More interestingly for us, Trump spoke about rescheduling marijuana for the first time since signing the executive order. He turned to his administration, and said “You’re going to get the rescheduling done, right, please? Will you get the rescheduling done, please? Joe, they’re slow-walking me on rescheduling. OK, you’re going to get it done, right?”

This really shines a light on the issues Trump runs into when he makes these sweeping executive orders. They make headlines but rarely make swift change.

The fate of marijuana is now in the hands of the deputy attorney general, Todd Blanche, who has been coy in answering questions about marijuana, basically saying he will follow the science. So it’s future is as murky as ever.
