A new study has come out that adds fuel to the fire of vaping safety.

However, some grains of salt must be taken with the study considering that it was funded by PAX, a vaping device company. But the numbers don’t lie, so as long as everything checks out then its credibility shouldn’t be completely in the toilet.

The study found that lighting marijuana with a joint is what causes most of the harmful chemicals, including benzene, formaldehyde, and acetaldehyde. Vaping doesn’t reach the same heat level so these compounds don’t get released.

The study compared these compounds between two PAX products and a joint. Here’s a graph showing the results:

“Combustion produces harmful byproducts—whether it’s tobacco, wood or cannabis. By heating cannabis without burning it, vaporization significantly reduces the formation of these toxic compounds. It’s the same plant, but completely different exposure. This research helps quantify the difference, giving consumers clearer information about how their choices impact exposure.”

This has been studied in the past in marijuana and e-cigarettes, showing some strong consensus around the knowledge.

It seems we’re well past the time when vape cartridges were killing people with unsafe concoctions.
